camera lag when recording in Imovie 11

Hi all.
As per the title I find that my camera lags when recording in Imovie. It lags for about 20 seconds and then when the recording is played I lose that section.

Using a new Macbook laptop and the built in Isight, all apps bar imovie are closed

Any Ideas

tried recording with quicktime and importing to imovie?

Hey.
Just tried and the lag is 100 times worse in Quicktime. Just tried a reset but still have the issue
