Camera monitoring

I have a iMac and need to activate my camera from work with a PC. Is there a easy way to do this? I know this sounds strange, but I want to keep a eye on my pets from time to time.

What Mac OS X version and what Windows version do you run on both the relevant computers?

How are they connected (LAN, internet, ...)?

Edit to add: What is the work computer and what is the home computer? It's a little bit confusing, I think.
