I posted this on the MB forum since technically it's an MB but got no responses and it seems this is the way more active forum (and honestly, I don't think it's a question that is really special to one or the other laptop).
My parents bought a new MB earlier this year (previous model to the latest one). I wanted them to get on facetime with it but apparently the Macbook claims there is no suitable camera attached (they are running 10.6.4 on it).
I had them check photobooth and it didn't see a camera either. According to dad (or at least what I can gather from him on the phone), it sounds like when you go to the "About this Mac" screen and get detailed info, the mac does not recognize the isight on the macbook either. But this I'm not sure cause when I have him look he gets really confused on what I'm talking about when I ask him to look to see what is connected. Ok, sounds like defective/unconnected camera, right?
Well, every time they go to the Apple store to have it checked, it works fine for them.
So, any suggestions on what might be causing this? They are in a different state (hence why I wanted to try out facetime now that it is on Mac
) so I haven't been able to mess with it myself. Maybe my dad is doing something wrong that I can't see?
