Homekit has been humming along fine for awhile now until....cameras are suddenly not giving notifications. I DO receive ALL notifications at once when I open the app. Only the cameras are doing this. Other HomeKit notifications work as intended. The other odd thing is I have three different brands of cameras and they are all affected by this.
Things I have tried so far:
Restart phone
Restart hub
Restart cameras
Checked all settings, they were fine, but toggled notifications off and on anyway
Set up a spare phone using my Apple ID, same result
Cameras can be used normally in live mode, and past recordings can be viewed. Nothing new was added or removed or changed when the issue began. Mesh network with wired backhaul for each node. I don't believe the network is an issue here. I did see a thread where someone would only receive notifications on WIFI, but that does not match my issue. My notifications all come, but only when the Home app is opened, regardless whether I am on WIFI or not.
