camera problems after jb...

ny somewhere
anyone else?

my camera shutter opens partway, takes it's own, blurry photo.
can't get past that; sometimes the shutter won't open at all..
 
thanx, had tried that.

i disabled or uninstalled various hacks (springtomize, etc), re-installed those things, and...seems to be working again (deep breath... :D )
 
alas...it keeps happening...
the shutter won't open, or it snaps a blurry picture (AND the shutter won't open).

any ideas about this? or how to troubleshoot the problem?

Well, at this point have you done a backup and restore, or at least re-jailbroken using the most recent redsn0w (_3b, i believe)? What about other camera apps, are you using or have installed any 3rd party apps? Try removing all and using a stock default setup. does the camera continue to function properly then? Come, do a little troubleshooting....;):)

i DID of course do the things in the post above (uninstalling and reinstalling apps and hacks), and will next, try a backup and restore...
 
what jb programs have you installed? I don't share this issue so it probably something you installed or you might need to re jailbreak. There is also a possibility it's a hardware issue.

am gonna uninstall jb apps, take it a step at a time. seems unlikely hardware, since it worked fine UNTIL the 5.0.1 jb...

Don't uninstall. Just restore.

1) Restore iPhone to it's factory defaults.
2) Try camera. If WORKSCORRECTLY = False then run AppleGeniusBar
3) Jailbreak.
4) Try camera
5) Install one jb app/hack at a time, re-trying the camera each time before installing the next.
6) Profit

(and no one knows step 2...)
 
3 1/2 hours later...:D

fwiw, i restored, re jb'd, reinstalled my hacks, apps, etc 1 at a time...
and EVERYTHING works (including the camera).

so whatever caused the problems before, it's gone.

guess i'll never know, but am happy to have everything working.

Good to know you got it fixed. I have had the same problem....sometimes the camera will open, but the screen is black.

my shutter would open a little bit, and the camera would take a blurry picture.
or..it wouldn't open. or...the app would freeze (i COULD get out of the app).

wish i could pinpoint what the problem was. but it's all good here, day 2.

...and i'm back. the problem has returned. ANYONE ELSE??
SOMETHING is definitely causing this, will have to explore in another way (am NOT gonna start all over).

anyone using barrel? no lsb?? trying to figure out WHAT is interfering.

ugh.

I haven't noticed any blurry pictures, but I mostly used my camera New Year's Eve, so things may have been blurry anyway. I only noticed a black screen a couple of times when I opened the camera.

barrel
lockscreen clock hide
color keyboard
no lsb
iNorotate

you have activator, but NOT sbsettings? just wondering...

Oops. SBSettings too. Not sure how I missed that one. I think that's it though.
 
this is a tough one, as my camera is working after a reboot.
will keep an eye on it, test out deleting various apps...and report back (IF there's anything to report, sigh...).

have turned off (in springtomize 2) "show camera on lockscreen"...and have had no problems since.

so i THINK it is that. (and will not come back to this thread EVER AGAIN...unless the problem returns...).

anyone USING that option??

Yup, I had that option on as well. I hadn't had the problem the last couple times I used it though.
