Ive never used screen protectors in the past let alone camera protectors, although Ive seen camera lens protectors on Amazon as well - some come packaged alongside screen protectors.

Installed a screen protector for the first time on my 13 Pro Max, and with the size of the camera lenses I'm considering camera lens protectors too??

Anyone use them?
Or are they just a waste of time/money??

Never used one and never will. The ones that cover the lens will definitely affect image quality. The ones I’ve seen are all tempered glass, which is the main reason I’d avoid it. If you crack that tempered glass protector, there’s a good chance that the broken glass will scratch the lens underneath. Also, not really sure if the adhesive they use would affect the lens coating.

Right up there with the watch protectors. Completely unnecessary. Use a case with good protection if you’re that worried.

I don’t see a reason to and you’d risk getting lower quality photos by putting something between the lens and what you are shooting.

I would never put a protector over my back cameras. I have a full front tempered glass protector on the front of my 13 pro max. Everything works perfectly.

Yeah I tried it before on 12 pro max.

It comes off pretty easily and depending on the cutout they sometimes distort the flash as well.

There are some cases that have slider protector for the camera. You can consider that instead.

The iPhone 13 is the first one i put a screen protector on but when i saw those things I immediately wondered how bad it would affect image quality.

I used MaxBoost tempered glass on my iPhone X for a number of years. Thus, it was a natural move for me to go with MaxBoost for my iPhone 13 Pro Max. As far as a case, I picked the Raysmark TPU Rubber Soft Silicone case. One wasn't yet available from my preferred company, but this was effectively similar.

Soooooooo, I got the phone on Friday. I installed MaxBoost screen protector (with camera protectors) on Friday night. Slight bump on Saturday afternoon caused the tempered glass on the camera protector to break on the northwestern most camera. Now, I learned that there was a thin film underneath that prevented the shard from impacting the lenses, nevertheless, I wasn't thrilled and have installed the second one as of today mid-day. We'll see how this one goes. Otherwise, might go naked on the camera protection and see what happens. My case does have a lip that should, theoretically, decrease potential exposure for the camera bump.

Shouldn’t because the lens are sapphire.
Numerous tests have shown that the ‘sapphire’ lens Apple uses is no more resistant to scratching than the glass used on the front of the phone. However, you’re unlikely to scratch the lens unless you drop the phone on a hard surface or you’re among the fools that keep the phone in the same pocket as your keys. Also, why do anything that could negatively impact camera image quality?

I cracked my lens on an 11 Pro Max. Have no idea how it happened. Has me concerned with the 13 Pro Max but I have insurance so I will take the risk of not having a protector. A camera protector does seem like overkill.

Reading reviews, many users complain that when the flash is used, it will affect the image badly. It will reflect the led light into the lens. I think that it will add more lens flare to the images.

Even with the dark circles that are supposed to control the flash leakage?

I guess so, but I have never used something similar. I'm just based on other reviews and it kind of makes sense. The LED will illuminate the whole clear area of the cover, but I may be wrong.
