Hi everyone,
I'm trying to activate iCloud Photos and it says I don't have enough space for that. I have about 26gb worth of pictures and have a 50gb plan.
If I understood correctly, this is happening because it is trying to upload all my pictures and videos twice - to iCloud Photos and as a part of my device backup (which is already using up space).
I thought it would be smart enough to not backup things twice, but it seems Apple gives us the choice. So, should I manually change my iPhone backup settings so that "Photos" are not backed up, free up space, and then activate iCloud Photos? Is this the right way to do it?
Also, in the future when I get a new iPhone and recover it from backup, will it download all the iCloud Photos stuff to my device so I can see it offline (considering my phone has enough space)?
Thanks!
