Good review. I guess I’m a bit bummed that they didn’t bring the best camera to both pro models. I find the ProMax entirely too big, I tried it with te XS max and returned it the next day. I’m still excited for my 12 Pro coming but do wish it was the same as the PM.

Cannot wait to compare my iphone 12 pro max against my iphone 11 pro the iphone 11 pro still pack a punch

That was one of the more realistic camera reviews on iPhone 12 pro.

I am disappointed that all the sensors are basically the same compared to iPhone 11 but looking forward what new sensor on 12 pro max brings to table.

To be fair to Apple its quite common practice in even higher end cameras to use the same sensor for two iterations in row. This seems to be what Apple is also doing and they might not even have access to new sensors every year with the specs they need.

Hopefully next year brings sensor improvements to all cameras to catch the competition.

What was interesting in that video that it seems Apple is capturing 120 frames per second in 4k to create hdr video. In theory this means they might already be able to add 4k slow motion in the near future.

Surely the software enhancements can be ‘activated’ in 3rd party camera apps?

The pro models should have access to new Apple ProRaw and third party apps will have access to that.

I could be mistaken but as far as I know users cant activate deep fusion themselves though?

I’m pro sly sticking with the 12. If they had brought the camera of the max to the 12P I would get that. Just can’t do the size of the Max.

The 12P and 12PM are so close in size that you may as well go PM for the bigger sensor.

They are certainly not close in size...

It is disappointing that the better hardware is only on the max but it’s just not worth it for me to lug it around as a ‘with me at all times device’. The camera on the 12 Pro will be an excellent upgrade from my XS and I’m happy with that.

If I want to take some serious photos I would just take my RX100 with me which would destroy either of these phones camera abilities.

They really are close in size. There is a print off somewhere on the forums to compare sizes and you may as well go PM, but that’s my opinion. That slight size difference may be everything to you, and many others out there. But it’s slight.

I have a Sony RX100 and it’s a great camera. I rarely use it though as it’s something else I have to carry.

You’re really downplaying the size and weight difference. If you are happy with the size then great but it’s not ‘slightly’ bigger by any means.

As for the Sony, my larger point is that I’d rather have a more compact device that can do an amazing job at on-the-fly photos and then back it up with the camera on the rare occasion I want that better photo and am happy to accept the inconvenience. Would much prefer that than locking myself in to an inconveniently sized phone 24/7 with no choice.

Everyone is different though, if it’s not that big to you then power to you but for a lot of people, it’s simply too large and the hardware upgrades aren’t worth the added size.
