The camera app to the iphone became unresponsive upon opening. Was wondering if theres any fix.

its been JB for some time I doubt thats the problem though since it was running fine a few days ago

Unresponsive as in stuck at the shutter and no havent downloaded anything from cydia.

This happened to me on iPhone4.

Open Camera app
Shutter(iris or diaphragm) is closed
Can't close app with home button
Can't switch between still and video
Only recourse is hard restart

If this describes your "unresponsive" camera, you can restore before you take it to the Apple store for a replacement. Apple Care told me that it is a hardware issue and qualifies for replacement.

its one of those ios 4.1 issue .... wait for 4.2, wish we could ALL go back to 4.0.1 and under, lol.

I would assume it's because you jailbreak and did something to have this happen.

Yeah so restoring would fix it.

But just a grip about the camera app on the iPhone 4.

I want it to be much much faster at opening.

I guess we have to wait for future generations of the iPhone to see a gradual upgrade on the iPhone 4's camera.

This issue is not a product of "jailbreaking" or any sort of software modification. I have an iPhone 4 with the same issue. It has been as Apple intended it to be since the purchase date. Also... restoring as new does not do the trick... I have not tried restoring from a backup prior to the issue however. Crazy, I know...

when the camera app wont open, and is stuck on the shutter being closed, is usually a hardware issue. replacing the camera module itself in my buddys iphone 4 last year fixed the issue. camera is $30 and the repair took 10 mins.
