Anyone else notice that the angle of view with the 4S camera seems to be exactly the same or even a hair wider than the older 4 camera? With a longer focal length, you'd expect the view to be narrower compared to the previous camera, but my test shots with both cameras from the exact same spot show minimal difference - a nice surprise. I'm curious as to how they configured the optics to make this possible.

It has a longer focal length? I thought it was just a faster lense.

Don't quote me on this but I thought they increased the focal length from 28mm to 35mm? So it should be a little longer. (As in telefocal wise)

Did they enlarge the sensor size? If so, that would be the reason for the wider field of view.

I think the sensor is the same size. The new focal length is 4.28 mm; up from 3.85. That's a significant difference that should be apparent if you were to attempt to take a picture from the exact same spot with each phone and compare.

Comparing the cameras, i get pretty much the same shot using each. The physics don't add up.
