Camtwist is an awesome application! Especially for the fact that it can record your desktop as a screencast with rather high quality. Although, it needs Quicktime Pro or Imovie 06 to do this (It's like it serves as the camera, but iMovie or Quicktime is the actual recorder/memory card). I unfortunately have neither, so I was wonderinf if anyone knew of an alternative for this awesome program to use!

Thanks!

An alternative screen recorder?

Screenflow
iShowU
Snapz Pro

Thanks but... not quite what I had hoped for. Seeing how camtwist is freeware, I'd perfer not to pay for a screen recorder (I'd rather pay for Imovie 06)

More or less I was hoping I'd find a camera import device similar to the way Imovie's camera import device works. I was hoping that maybe somebody would have an idea of such a thing.

I'm really not looking for much. Just something to record my screen for an unlimited time. It doesn't need to support Audio at all, and doesn't really even need to be high quality.

I guess at this rate though I'll just fork over the twenty bucks for iShowU and get iLife upgraded. (I've been looking for a long long time)

Some how the topic of this thread seems to have changed from "What something that can record directly to computer from camera" to "Free screen recorders...?"

Anyway, thanks for the help. I actually do appreciate it. I think I'll just go for buying a screen recorder.

Quicktime Broadcaster is free and can record a video camera input to the disk.
