Hey everyone, been searching around the web trying to find a solution here and would appreciate any insights on offer.
I've got a 27" TB display, a 27" Cinema display, and a Dell P2214HB 22" monitor and am looking to connect it all to my 2017 MBP 15".
Previously, I've had the two Apple displays connected and they've worked flawlessly for years, but as soon as I introduced the Dell then things went sideways. I consider myself somewhat savvy with respect to how Apple devices work and connect but I'm stumped here. I'm sure it's something simple. My previous set up is connected as such:
MBP > Apple TB3 (USB-C) to TB2 adapter > TB Display (using built-in TB cable) > TB Display (using separate TB cable) & Cinema Display (using built-in MDP & USB cables) > Belkin TB 2 Express Dock
With the above set up the Cinema display works because it's the last device in the chain and is connected via an intermediate device. My new set up that I thought would work uses the above configuration with the addition of:
MBP > Dell P2214HB (using a TB3 to DVI cable)
What happens as soon as I connect the Dell monitor is I lose the Cinema display picture while the TB display and Dell monitor work fine.
I'm not really sure what is driving this problem as the TB display is still connected to the dock (in theory providing the 'daisy chain' to the Cinema display) and the Cinema display is also still connected to the dock and in the chain of Apple devices is in the last position. But for some reason the Cinema display is not being picked up by the MBP. I can't even 'force' it to see the display using the Option button in the Display settings.
Any help is appreciated and thanks a ton in advance.
