Can a 5K iMac run mavericks with 3d OS smoothly

As much as i like the thought of a 5k screen, from some reviews on utube it looks a bit laggy with big images

I wonder if apple ditched the 3D OS in yosemite cause the 3D affects made the 5k screen lag with current GPU's, would be interesting to see a 5k run mavericks OSX instead of yosemite.


Did apple dupe us with 2D yosemite so it runs quick on 5k screens?

Yosemite uses more GPU power than Mavericks. Those blur and transparency effects use a lot more GPU resources.
