Can a 13 inch 2017 MacBook Pro w/4 USB-C ports hard drive fit into a 13 inch 2018 MacBook Pro w/4 USB-C ports? I have a damaged 2017 whose hard drive I would enjoy reading again.

Thank you for looking.

The 2017 MBP with 4 USB-C ports has to be the TouchBar model, is that right? If that's the case, tough luck, as the SSD is soldered to the logic board.

I guess the only option then would be to backup and restore, if possible at all. What is the nature of the damage on your 2017 machine?

Thank you Sterkenburg. Wine was spilled onto it.
Ouch. The only option when water damage occurs is to power off the machine immediately, clean/dry it as much as possible, hope it still turns on afterwards and if it's still alive do a backup immediately.

If the damage is already done and the logic board is fried, there's likely not much you can do: even if you went for an expensive repair out of your pocket, you'd lose the soldered drive in the process anyway.
