Can a penryn logic board be placed into a merom macbook?

Just curious, I was hoping it could because down the road I would like to buy one from someone who had a broken macbook screen and did not want to repair it. I think it would be compatible, any ideas?

It would be easier to replace his broken screen with your working one.
