Yes. You can change the language on an iPod easily in the settings>>language menu.

However, you are aware that is the only model they show that is a 1G nano, rather than the 2G ones priced at $219?

When you first turn it on it asks you which language you want, or like has been said if you accidentally click through this you can change it later.

No, absolutely do not buy the French iPod if you speak only English.

It contains a super secret circuit from Apple that translates songs on the fly from English to French (kinda like the reverse of what Patsy Gallant did with Gilles Vigneault's "Mon Pays..." and look how that turned out).

Problem is, as soon as you play "Louie Louie", "The Joker", or "Boogie oogie, boogie woogie dancing shoes" on it, it's too much for the translation circuits, the battery melts down and catches on fire. This is not covered under Applecare, being classed as abuse.

are you being funny?

its a serious question

i know its a stupid question

BUT THEN WHY ARE THE FRENCH IPODS CHEAPER THEN THE ENGLISH ONES????? PLUS WHY DO THEY SELL FRENCH IPODS IN CANADA IF YOU CAN CHANGE THE LANGUAGE???????

OK newbie, forum etiquette: :D is a smiley. It means the poster is being funny.

Also, it does not help to SHOUT.

This unit is cheaper because it is a close out of the first generation model. It is a discontinued unit. (and besides, FS has no stock left). The English ones you are comparing it to are the new aluminum Nanos.

Apple do that for different markets, even if power and agency standards are the same, just to make sure that things like the primary language on the packaging is appropriate. That's all.

However, the cheaper nano is the older plastic one, that's the real difference you should think about. You heard about all the scratching complaints with the old plastic model, right?

yeah we figured that out already but thanks

which is better? i have the white one but is the silver better? the edges look rougher
The silver is better because the screen is brighter and the battery life is, I think, also better. The old models aren't bad, just not as smooth in your hands.
