Can a Pioneer 16x be put in a Quike Silver 867

Maybe you should ask OtherWorld Computing (http://eshop.macsales.com/) since they sell a couple of Pioneer DVD-R/RW drives for use in Macs.
I have put 8x dvdr drives in sawtooth G4's and all worked perfect. since 16x is 22 MB/sec though you may not always get a sustained max speed unless you hook the dvdr up to a faster ata bus. for sustained 22 MB/sec I would say ata 66 minimum. most powermac G4's have ata 33 for the optical bus. don't put a burner and hd on the same bus though.
