Can a wireless printer connect to the Airport Express [non-usb wirelessly connect]

Question: Can a wireless printer 'join' an Airport Express Network?

The printer in question is not near my router, can the printer join the network wirelessly so that I can print w/o a USB connection?

Thanks - is there any special setting it needs to join or simply the Airport network information? Will OS X recognize it is a wireless printer and work with it?

airport is just apple's fancy name for wi-fi, the signal that comes from it is no different than anything that comes from any number of other manufacturer's routers, or what you would find at your local coffee shop.
