hi, i have seen videos on youtube about people's macbook air's hinge breaking. i have an aluminum macbook 13 inch and i was just wondering if this could break too, and if it can, what can i do to prevent it? ok thanks in advance!

Anything can "break," especially seeing how it's a moving part.

I haven't heard of anybody's Unibody hinge breaking...there have been complaints that it gets stiff/loose over time, but nothing about completely failing.

The obvious thing would be not to drop your MacBook or slam the lid shut, but I haven't heard of the hinges failing :S

looks like a macbook air, which i remember many of which had hinge issues, not the unibody macbook

edit: misread op
the macbook air first generation had a lot of people complaining about the hinge breaking, but the unibody macbook hasn't really had any widespread problems

I have a unibody with hinge issues.. It is not broken like that video, but my hinge sucks.

It is quite loose (screen moves too freely) and also makes a cracking sound when I open/close it.
