I was considering using a new iMac but already own six iMacs. The 20" screen is too small for my aging dad so I was thinking of connecting a 32" hdtv to it. He is a Windows user so was going to see if it is possible to get Win 7 and Office running on this iMac, which has seen little action.

Will it work?

No problem whatsoever. You'll need a mini-DVI to DVI adaptor, but apart from that it'll be fine.

1080p is 1920x1080, its nothing special. Us computer users have it for years, but the marketing people want you to thing it's something special (so they came up with Full HD & 1080p).
