can an iMac act as a thunderbolt hub when you connect a macbook air ?

I have a 2011 iMac with thunderbolt, and I want to buy a 11inch Macbook air.

Is it possible to have the iMac act as a "docking / thunderbolt hub" when you connect the thunderbolt cable between the macbook air and imac ?

(USB Ports to work, Other thunderbolt port to connect to other monitor, speakers)
