I have a DVD from a wedding photographer made up of about 1,000 jpg images. The DVD can be read on my iMac and a Windows XP system I have. I used the iMac disk utility to make a copy of it. I can use the copy on the iMac but Windows XP cannot read it. I know Windows XP is old and out of support, but the original DVD can be read there. Can't my iMac make an exact copy of a DVD? Read it and write it?

Disk Utility should be able to make a bit-perfect copy of a DVD. Create a "CD/DVD master" image from the original DVD (which will be a .cdr file) and then burn it as an image. I can't give exact steps because this "new and improved" machine has no DVD drive!
