Hi,

My friends often tell me that they can't get through to my iPhone, probably because i was surfing the net or downloading email.

I need my phone to be a phone first, internet device second. Is there a way to make incoming phone calls interrupt my EDGE use, taking me to the call? thanks! :)

Unfortunately, no. I have the same problem as you. Whenever I'm expecting a call, I have to purposely not use safari or mail, which almost defeats the purpose of having the phone .

If you use Egde no calls will pass through which sucks because its hard to tell when calls will be coming in.

It is sad...because the EDGE protocol allows it, the network has to implement it, which I don't think ATT does everywhere. Some areas are NOM 1 (can interrupt data with a GSM voice page), NOM 2 (cannot).

That is quite shocking really

Edit:Hopefully 02 will enable this feature, still should've been 3G though.

3G can do both at the same time. So once 3g model come out that should make alot of you happy.

Do you guys really surf the web through safari on EDGE for hours
on hours?

I personally don't, I check the web using my iPhone when I need to
look up info and I'm not by a comp. In normal use case, when you
get back to home screen, you can see any voicemail anyway, just
call 'em back.

But surely the point would to be able to use the net and still accept calls. Say for example you are trying to find something out on the internet and it takes 10 minutes (partly because edge is pretty slow) and you miss a call within ten seconds of starting browsing. Say that call was an emergency, you just lost 10 mintues that are vital all because the iPhone can't do something that it really should be able to do.

Tough... life's not easy.

I agree with what he said.
