iPad Can an iPad record audio and video?

I am thinking of very soon getting an ipad with retna display and wanting to know if it will do the following. My wife is attending a conference and wants to use it for:

-recording the program on audio AND also recording audio with video for some guest speakers that will be there.

What is the quality like? What apps does it come with that I would need to make this work? Can she record audio and take notes on it at the same time?

The ipad is natively capable of video recording with audio.

As for audio only or audio with note taking capabilities, that would depend on apps. There are some third party apps in the app store that are audio only, and some that are audio recording with a built in notepad. I dont personally know of any to recommend, but I can tell you they are out there
