Can anybody tell me how to make a bootable DSL Linux flash drive

Please don't have a go at me for mentioning linux.

I can find loads of stuff on how to do this on a PC but it seams nobody has written down how to do it on a mac. I have tried and tried to get it to work but I don't get if I need syslinux or not or what?:confused:

any help on this is much appreciated.
