Only comes out sometimes, sometimes when certain applications are open. Goes away when they are closed, but sometimes it stays on when no applications are open.

Sorry that its a download link but I dont have a youtube account :/ Its a very short 10 second video taken from my phone

Thanks for any help, I've never been able to find a solid answer on why my macbook does this.

Hard to tell but sounds like the bearings are shot in the fan...

Probably a lot of dust in it too....

Take the top case off and you will be able to hear what is making the noise....

I didn't open it but I think I have the same problem... kind of sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG3SD7OAd1Y

It only happens when the comp is doing a lot of work so it has to be the fan. when I tap the area where the fans are the sound goes away for a moment but will then return! I could post a video if needed. I should probably clean out the fans. How do I go about doing that? Take off top case - Is that the only way?
