Cannot upgrade to Mavericks….have tried many options all weekend.
Successfully upgraded my Mum's iMac with no problems from our office….my MBA will not do anything…..just the spinny wheel in the stop left corner and then nothing.

I have trolled the forums and have tried going into "Terminal" and making the suggested alterations there - No Dice!
Another forum member suggested that I re-download Mavericks on my Mum's iMac, and the copy and paste the App to a Pen Drive…I have tried that to a SanDisk empty 16GB Cruzer Switch, but it will not copy saying there is not enough space!!??

My new problem is that now I cannot open iPhoto…when I try i get the following pop-up iPhoto requires Mac OS X version 10.8.3 or later. For information about upgrading your computer, visit www.apple.com/macosx.

Can anyone help me out please?
I am leaving the country (NZ) in 3 days and would love to have iPhoto working for my travel photos.

Cheers

Sounds like your hard drive is too full. Try clearing some space so you can copy the Mavericks from the flash drive to your Applications folder. You will also need some free space for the installation.

There is plenty of space on the MBA…when I copy and paste the app from my Mum's iMac to the Flash drive, it is saying, "not enough space on the Flash" !!

ahhhh, I should have said in my opening comments that I am a "Tech-Idiot"

I don't know the answer to that sorry - how can I find out?? I have used it many times on my MBA before if that helps?

Plug the flash drive in.

Open Disk Utility, select the drive on the left (the name below "16 GB SanDisk."..), and look at the bottom left corner of the window :

OK - thanks!

I'll give that a try and see how I get one……once I have formatted as per you direction, should I go back and attempt the copy and paste method from my Mum's iMac??

Thankk you!!

Big thanks for all your help - your suggestions worked a treat and I now have mavericks on my MBA - very happy:D

Thank you all so much.

Cheers.
