Can anyone reccomend me a Camcorder?

Hi all, my dad is interested in buying a Camcorder so I thought I would go ahead and buy him it as a Christmas present.
It will be for casual use, just recording whilst on holiday and when were out and about on trips.

My budget is about £400.

I've been looking all day and cant find one, they're all similarly priced but I'm no expert in this field so thought I'de get some help from any tech heads who use Digital Camcorders.

1080p recording would also be preferred, thanks!

If you just want one for casual use while out and about. Pretty much any will do. Dont need to be an expert on video

If it is for casual recording, I would suggest the Sony HDR-XR100 with 8GB HDD, if you would like to spend a little bit more go for any canon below $1000 except for the canon HF200 it's a bad camcorder.
