A case like the Quadlock for the iphone means that a swipe-up is usually not recognised - particularly if you have motorcycle gloves on. Hence you might be in a navigation app and want to get back to the homescreen to (say) play some music, and you can't do it because you can't effectively swipe up (I think the algorithm also doesn't like that the swipe up isn't very steady and consistent). Of course you can come out of the running app by switching off the phone, but when you switch on again you still need to swipe up to get beyond the lock screen.

I have tried to develop a solution in a couple of ways mainly via playing with the accessibility settings (using backtap is impractical), but results have been unreliable.

So I think motorcyclists need either to make swipe up easier (middle of screen upwards?) or assign swipe-up to one of the buttons ... neither of which I have been able to do. Hopefully someone can help, or can approach the problem in a completely different way.

Thanks

Mike

PS - Siri works when you are stopped but not when you need her (at speed)

It's an expensive solution but my Apple Watch has really made riding so much easier when it comes to these things (still difficult while riding at times). I will usually have my earbuds connected and in-ear before I ride so I can answer calls, speech-to-text when stopped, directions, etc. The other solution I have used is Siri Shortcuts, both in automations and ones that I manually call by telling Siri to do through my earbuds. When it does work, you should be authenticated by just wearing the watch so you don't have to worry about swiping up (again, when it does work lol)

I've made up a few shortcuts and a focus home screen so that everything I need for riding is on one screen. I can sometimes access Siri through the airpods, but only when stopped or moving slowly through town. I can of course fire up siri by holding the phone's on/off switch and siri sometimes hears what I'm saying a bit better this way, but usually mis-hears if I am travelling at over say 30mph. And in any case Siri cannot change apps or close apps so I am looking for physical ways of doing this if anyone can help.
