When I restart I just hear the chime but no screen) I’m worried the logic board is fried. If it is, is there any chance Apple can recover the data from the SSD?

You most likely have a screen or graphic card problem. try resetting and reseting the PRAM your logic board should be okay and your data can be rescued. There is a video of someone fixing this for free after apple said no from 2019 and the live in NYC Last edited: Nov 24, 2021

Yes they should be able to do it. You should even be able to extract the SSD yourself and put it in an external cradle.
