If it is an option for you, you should just bring it in and ask. The normal cost of the repair (screen replacement + top case replacement) will be much more than your machine is currently worth. However if you bring it in there is a chance that they offer you a discounted repair.

They do it as an "out of warranty repair" for a flat fee of $295.... I just had this done on my 2009 MacBook Pro. They changed the Main board, battery and a couple other things.

$295 for motherboard, battery, and couple of other things?
A new battery costs $129, and a motherboard replacement would cost easily $300...

WTH? Tell me what secret phrase I must say to get this! Lol too bad I've taken mine apart so many times you can tell :D

It's a regular Apple service item. Take it to the store or call them I'm sure they will do it for you as well.

Too bad I've modded mine.. TBH usually I'd rather just fix it myself but for a new logic board + battery for $295? Thats a crazy deal. Maybe for my sisters 2009 (which has a service battery signal and a cracked trackpad...)
