What i mean to say is, can Apple increase the screen resolution in the 3rd generation iPhone without having issues as far as applications not running correctly or not fitted to the screen properly? I'm not sure as to how much it makes a difference, and i'm just a little curious :)

thanks in advance,

Apple could change the resolution and apps would still run correctly and fit the screen however Apple chooses. They might be a little fuzzy if Apple auto-zooms by a fractional amount. And there might be a performance hit, if the app developer thinks he's playing with specific pixels, but everything is getting automagically resampled/resized under the hood.

But most everything would work and be readable.

the iPhone outputs a higher resolution, anyway. And it looks like Developers should have always built apps for higher resolutions, the iPhone simply scales it all down. That said, I believe it's staying the same, nothing wrong with it.
