Yes, it’s on the tech specs page on Apple’s website.

I don't know why they didn't seem to explain this well enough as everyone is kinda missing the point. AVP is exactly like a MacBook or iPhone - except the battery and charge port happen to exist at the end of a cable.

Plug in power (whether it be a USB-C AC adapter, or a 30w USB C PD power bank) to the battery and it will charge and you can use the AVP at the same time, exactly like you'd do with a Mac or iPhone. No need to eliminate the battery from the equation, it's part of the device.

If you want more battery time, I'd rather look at a 20,000mah 30w USB C PD battery bank rather than a second $200 Apple battery - you'd have to fully power down the device to swap whereas if you just treat this like any other Apple device, you can supplement power anytime you'd like from either AC or a power bank.

Presumably you can use any USB type C power bank.

I'm super glad they didn't include the battery inside the device - batteries are heavy components and you want anything on your head to be as light as possible. Would much rather the power supply be in my pocket, backpack, bag, etc.

I’m surprised no one is celebrating the fact that you don’t have to see a “genius” to replace a battery that doesn’t hold charge. Finally the technology is quite there.

Also regarding power banks, you would
need one that outputs at least 30W to not suffer any drain.

I am probably going to experiment how long I can have the AVP on my face for work. I will be tethered to a socket.

If its more than an hour that's probably "enough" at a time.

With the HoloLens units we have, they aren't used for much more than an hour or two at a time - they're tools to do a specific job.

People who are expecting to live in full VR/AR all day - we aren't anywhere near that yet, that is 10 years off I reckon when the form factor is similar to a pair of regular sunglasses. Doesn't mean current tech is useless though.

Yea anything that can also work with a Nintendo Switch docked should output plenty of juice as that spec of a docked Switch is quite stringent

Another reason to return the $200 battery I bought.

thanks!

It would be nice to see a connection that did not require the battery at all. I don't believe that's available at launch. Is hot swapping possible? Do we know that yet? I'm not sure if there's any onboard battery to maintain a charge during a hot swap, or potentially moving from wall power only to battery power.

Can you plug the AVP battery into the MBP and continuously charge it while you use your Mac on the larger AVP display?
