Can Apple wipe data from iPhone for me at store?

I was wondering if the Apple Store genius could wipe/restore my iPhone 4 for me or if I need to do it myself before exchanging my phone.

Here's the reason why I'm asking:
I live in Saskatoon Saskatchewan and the nearest Apple store is 6 hours away. I've got a spot of 'something' behind my camera lens (looks like a small metallic sliver) but more than that for the past little while I'm getting random popup alerts saying "Network Unavailable" even though my son and wife have no such problems with this (wife on 3GS, son on dumbphone). I had the option of having them send me a box to send mine in then shipping me a replacement (applecare was awesome), or paying 29 bucks and placing hold on credit card for full price.

I can't be without iPhone for that long as we have no landline. I also don't have a credit card with a high enough limit (had financial problems in the past and now purposely limit my card to 500 dollars).

So my only choice is to do it when I take my family on a trip to Edmonton to West Edmonton Mall at the Apple Store there but I don't want to erase all of my apps/data first as I would like to have it all running for the duration of the trip.

Can I ask the apple store genius to wipe data from old phone as I'm getting the replacement?

You can reset it yourself at the store. It's under settings->general->reset->Erase All Contents and Settings. That's what Apple Genius does when you exchange it.

you can do it yourself, by going to settings, general, reset, erase all content and settings....
