For watching movies I’m using my ATV to send audio via airplay to utilize my whole house audio (ceiling) speakers and a subwoofer that are hooked up to centralized system (amplifiers are downstairs). I need a local soundbar to fill in a dead spot and if my ATV could output sound via optical or HDMI to use either a soundbar or my tv speakers simultaneously I would be all dialed in. Is it possible to do this with an ATV?

There's got to be a way to do this...would be nice if someone could figure it out. The ATV behind the TV sends the audio downstairs to an airport express that's connected to the whole house audio receiver that powers my ceiling speakers and a sub. Now I just need to figure out how to feed that same audio to a sound bar located under the TV. Someone said this could be done with a few cheap chrome casts, so I'm wondering why it can't be done with a few ATVs.

Hmmmmm, could this be done with the following setup:
Netflix playing on ATV behind TV
**use iTunes to feed audio to another ATV that feeds the speaker, and also feed the airport express that's hooked up to the whole house audio system?

There's got to be a way...
