I am considering buying the latest Apple wireless keyboard but only to use it with a USB cable as a wired keyboard. That’s because I don’t like the extra responsibility of charging my keyboard and also because I like to keep Bluetooth on my Mac turned off.

I know there is a way to turn Bluetooth off on my Mac. But is there a way to turn Bluetooth off on an Apple wireless keyboard so that it will not be scanning for or emitting any Bluetooth signals?

I believe it won’t emit pairing signals while plugged in to a Mac (especially if you’ve BT paired it to your Mac and then turn off your Mac’s BT. AFAIK, since it can only pair with one device at a time, it won’t try to pair with anything else once paired with your Mac.

You could test this by connecting it with a cable to your Mac and the. searching for pairable BT devices with your phone.

If it pops up, however, I’m not aware of another way to disable BT on it.
