Can Devs Develop Games With Higher Res For iPhone 4?

Just verifying this.
I know they can double the pixels, but can they design apps with higher resolution for iPhone 4?

Yes, but depending on the intensity of the graphics, they might have to render at a lower resolution (such as 720x480). The iPhone automatically upscales it for you. Even though 720x480 is half the pixels of the retina display, it's still a lot higher than the old display.
