Hi Guys,

Can I add an emoji in text replacement in keyboard shortcuts? I just saw a video where somebody was showing you can also add emoji in the keyboard shortcut for Text replacement is that correct? Can this be done? I tried doing it but it says cannot accept emoji?

It works fine.

I think Apple have worded this feature badly, and you might be entering the info backwards. I used to keep doing that!

Basically, put the emoji in the "Phrase" box and the text to be replaced in the "Shortcut" box.

When you say put the Emoji in the phrase Box do you mean like for e.g. for the Angry Emoji put the emoji icon or the word? How do I copy the emoji icon in the phrase box?

I’m sure there are a million good examples. Very handy while texting. I use “pi” and it returns ∏
Lots of fun to be had! And “appt“ returns appointment. Very handy tool, as I have lots of them! And I used “grin“ for a smiley face! 😄 Have fun!

One I use quite a lot (I'm British and like to chat about the weather) is one for degrees.

I use ";deg" for °. I have a few others I start with a semi-colon as I find those easier to remember.

Also use a shortcut to get that Apple logo.  And if I type “OMW” is shows On my way! Probably many of these common abbreviations would be helpful when sending to someone not abbreviation literate. Typing FWIW displays “for what it’s worth”. You’re welcome grandma!
