Can Final Cut Express import mpeg4 videos?

I am thinking of buying FCE some time today. Can Final Cut Express import mpeg4 videos? If not, are there any software that will convert to the format that is suitable for FCE to successfully import?

No it won't. The file has to be in .avi format. Try Handbrake. It works for me.
