I see that HomePod can recognize a smoke alarm sound and send a notification, but can it do the same for a door bell or knock? Seems like it should be possible since iPhone/iPad can recognize door bells, but I can’t find the option in the Home app.

FYI once I receive a notification I would want to view my camera feeds to see who it is. I don’t have a doorbell camera and can’t install one since I rent, but I have interior cameras pointed out windows. But it’s also good for when I’m home but don't hear the knock.

No such option for the HomePod, unfortunately.

FWIW, Aqara (G4) makes a wireless Doorbell cam that runs on batteries and integrates with HomeKit. Can be mounted anywhere.
