Can I access files on Time machine HD from another Mac and copy them?

My Mac mini running Lion died and I have been without a computer for a while. I have access to a 2012 Macbook pro running mountain lion or mavericks (not sure if the person upgraded) and a white iMac C2D running snow leopard (neither of them are mine) I had my Mac Mini backed up to a 2.5TB External HD and have an additional 1.5TB External HD.

Is there a way I can access the files I had on my computer (the now dead Mac Mini) via the time machine HD on either the Macbook Pro or iMac and copy the files to the 1.5TB external HD. Time machine was set-up to back up the Mac Mini as well as the 1.5TB external HD.

Really hope it's possible?
