I was under the impression that I could do this. I am trying to access my hard drive connected to the Airport Extreme. I configured it for Bonjour & SMB. I have the IP address of the airport extreme.

Shouldn't it be:

Bonjour
afp://ip_of_airport_extreme/bonjour_name

or

Windows Share
smb://ip_of_airport_extreme/workgroup_name

Am I missing a step or is this not possible?

I believe you can do this now with the new 802.11n Airport Extreme. Has anyone been successful doing so?

From the internet....

You should have to get the IP address coming in from your ISP, not the 192.168... that the router gives you. I know my ISP changes the IP address about every 30 days or so to keep people from hosting sites on their own machines without paying for a static IP address.

You should be able to connect locally on the network as it is, but I believe you need your actual IP address for the real world.

I have the external IP address and that is what I was trying to use. Is there something I need to configure on the Airport Extreme? I couldn't ping the Airport Extreme or connect to it via the "afp" and "smb" protocols.
