I have just purchased a iPad Air M2 and would like to add the Bookmark icon to my toolbar in safari to save me opening and closing the sidebar all the time. It is there on my original iPad Air, so i am assuming it can be done.

Edit: sorry, the below is for Mac Safari. I didn't realize what thread category I was in.
  • Right click on the Safari toolbar to display Customize Toolbar...
  • Then drag and drop the Bookmarks Star icon up where you want it in your toolbar.
I don't think you can add a button... but you can click and hold on the URL (website address) for a few seconds and one of the options that will appear is for making it a bookmark.

Didn’t solve my problem, but I’m glad you posted anyway, because that tip at the end about click and hold the URL for a few seconds, is something I didn’t know and it’s very handy to know.

go to settings, safari and “show favourites” and then you can set what your favourites are. Things like bookmarking a page are already available

Thanks, but that’s not what I’m looking for.

I am trying to add the little bookmark icon to my toolbar so I don’t have to keep opening and closing the side bar all the time. On a Mac, you can just go to customise tool bar then drag and drop which icons you want to show in the toolbar, I’m hoping there is something similar on iPad.

I am new to iPads and have just found out i can get near enough what i am looking for by tapping the plus sign in the top left hand corner.

Thanks anyway, but if you can do what i was originally asking please let me know as it may come in handy to know.

You can tap the share icon (square with arrow) and choose bookmark from there. You can move it to the top as well if you scroll to the bottom and tap edit actions.
