Can I avoid iPhone Security Backup?

Every time I synchronize my iPhone with iTunes, it starts by making a "security backup" of my iPhone (I'm in Sweden, I do not know the exact term used in the English version). This takes some 10 minutes. THEN it syncronized the few things I have added/changed.

Is there any way of avoiding this security backup being done every time?
