Can I backup my iMac onto a flash drive?

Or can I only drag and drop files? If I had to drag and drop, to back up my Aperture library, would I just drag the entire 'Aperture Library' file itself or would I have to go in and transfer the pictures themselves? I'm hoping there's a way I can take a time machine backup and them move it to a flash drive.

I guess you could use Time Machine to back up to a flash drive if the flash drive was large enough or your HDD was small enough.

Aperture can either store photos "in" Aperture or index them, meaning they are kept where you put them. Copying the library thus has different results depending on how you use Aperture.
