Can I boot camp onto an external HD?

I want to install Windows 7, but I do not want to partition my internal drive. So the question is, can I run boot camp, and set it on on my external drive? If yes, then how exactly do I go about doing that.

IIRC the official bootcamp only works on the internal hard drive. It's possible to do it on the external, but it's not for the novice. do a search on mroogle.
