i don't think i can, so maybe a tip to mark the new music i've been putting into a playlist for when i feel like checking out something unfamiliar. also to remind me of stuff i want to give a listen.
 
you can make a "smart" playlist in iTunes where the music is sorted by date added. you can also make a playlist based on the number of times a song has been played.

to make a smart playlist in iTunes, go to File > New Smart Playlist, or hit alt+cmd(apple key)+N. enter the stipulations for your songs (date added, play count, etc.) and enjoy!
 
actually i just want to browse artists when i select a playlist on the ipod, like i can in itunes.
