Due to taxes and price difference the 6s is about 20% more expensive in Canada, even accounting for the exchange rate. For that reason I would like to buy a 6s at an Apple Store while visiting the US for a few days and then bring it back. However, it's not clear to me if doing so is possible: Each phone is sold attached to a US carrier each paid-in-full phone seems to require some unlocking procedure.
Is it possible to pay in full for a 6s in the US and bring it back to Canada to use on a Canadian carrier? Can I perform the unlocking procedure outside of the US? Do I need to do in-store activation?
