Can I buy a mac with my name and use someone else's ID card for proof?

I want to buy a mac for someone in the family using the educational discount. I am currently working at a university but would like to send it under someone elses name. can I still use the discount using my ID card?

The name used to buy a Mac has nothing to do with who it's registered to. The user can register the Mac in their name when they get it.

What do you mean by "send it under someone else's name"?

Just fill out the online store with your education info, provide a billing address, and a shipping address.
