Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to edit the settings/preferences for the standard "Preview" that comes up when you're in the Finder and you hit the space-bar (on things such as audio files .. wav, mp3, etc).
I work on music for a living, and I'm constantly in my Finder, going thru 1000's of audio samples (using the space-bar initiated "Preview"). It's kind of frustrating to use because a lot of times, I need to re-listen to a sample (from the beginning) a few times quickly in a row (especially the very initial sound of it .. aka the musical "transient"), and I hate how half of the time the "Preview" will continue from the last place left off when you last previewed it. Sometimes I have to click around on 4-5 other audio files and "Preview" them before I can go back to the original one without it playing back from the middle (or last place I left off). Sometimes if I wait 4-5 seconds after hitting the space-bar again and stopping the "Preview" playback on an audio file, I can hit the space-bar one more time, and it will start back the preview from the beginning of the audio, but usually this is not the case. Also, it's very annoying because if you simply click and drag the position-indicator bar in the preview (the one that counts down the seconds or the length of the audio clip) back to the very far left, where it begins, and let go there (as to basically "start" the playback from the beginning), even if you have it all the way to the left, starting at "zero" seconds, the "Preview" will *NEVER* catch that initial sound transient of the audio file.
For those of you who are not familiar with audio terminology, the term "transient" is basically the very initial sound of the audio file. A real life example that I could try to give is if you were to have a recording of somebody knock on a door.. the "transient" in this case would be the initial sharp sound of somebody's knuckles hitting the wood or metal.. now if you apply this concept to the problem I'm having, if you were to lose the "transient" of this sound, imagine hearing the audio sample file playback of the knocking sound, but with the initial "transient" or sharp part of the knock completely "gone", with you only hearing the tail half of the sound.
I hope I was able to convey my problem appropriately. Does anybody know if this "Preview" function is customizable or how to fix my issue? Thanks!
